Our history

For over 25 years, Répit-Ressource has been committed to providing humane, accessible homecare services and to creating local jobs that are valued and rewarding.

Recognized as an EÉSAD in 1997, the non-profit organization was born in the wake of social movements for better working conditions in homecare, notably the Bread and Roses march and the Forum de l’économie sociale in 1995.

Répit-Ressource has grown with its community, providing essential services to families, seniors and people with reduced autonomy. In 2024, the organization broadened its impact by merging with Services West-Nette, uniting Montreal’s east and west ends under a single banner of solidarity. It is the largest EÉSAD on the island of Montreal, and its service areas are home to the largest number of seniors in Quebec.

What is an EESAD?

An EÉSAD is a homecare social economy enterprise. Supported by the Quebec government, they offer subsidized services while creating quality jobs in their communities.

The merger: a new scope since 2024

In 2024, Répit-Ressource took a major step forward by merging with Services West-Nette (West Island). This strategic union now covers all of Montreal’s east and west ends, while pooling the expertise of two committed teams.

A structuring change that strengthens our ability to offer humane, accessible, quality services to a greater number of people.

More than a service, a committed local player

Répit-Ressource is more than just a home services organization: it’s a committed community player.

From the outset, Répit-Ressource has been actively involved in the life of the neighborhoods it serves: presence on the ground, participation in local social initiatives, collaboration with partner organizations… A constant commitment to meeting the needs of seniors and strengthening the social fabric.
