Also known as “respite care” in the healthcare network, it goes even further at Répit-Ressource: our qualified staff provide a caring presence, and offer stimulating activities for the person being cared for.
What does in-home respite care include?
Benevolence and surveillance
Provide reassuring daytime and evening support, including at the end of life (at the bedside)

At Répit-Ressource, we believe that taking care of ourselves is also a way of taking better care of others. Our respite services offer caregivers a precious break, while providing the person being cared for with a caring, stimulating and reassuring presence at home with a trained attendant.
Who can benefit from the home respite service?
Anyone (family, friends, neighbors, etc.) who regularly supports a senior loved one can apply.
How long does a respite care service last?
Each service lasts a minimum of 2 hours, to offer complete, high-quality support. The average service lasts 3 or 4 hours, with the possibility of a longer period.
What activities can be offered to the person being cared for?
Our attendants can lead memory games, chat, walk outside or simply keep you company, depending on the person’s abilities and desires, and on a prior assessment to ensure safety.
Is this service available evenings and weekends?
Yes, the caregiver respite service is also available in the evening and/or on weekends, depending on the availability of attendants in your area. A premium rate is applicable.
Is this service subsidized?
Yes, the service can be financed by L’Appui pour les proches aidants, depending on your needs. Apply for the service.
