Questions about PEFSAD?

Here are some answers to frequently asked questions to help you better understand this grant program.

Is PEFSAD open to everyone?

It is available to all Quebec residents aged 18 and over who hold a valid health insurance card (RAMQ). The amount of the subsidy depends on your family income and living situation.

Good to know: If you’re under 65, a CLSC or CI(U)SSS referral may entitle you to a higher level of exemption under the PEFSAD program.

The amount granted varies according to your family situation and annual income. You can obtain an indicative estimate online using the RAMQ simulator.

But the most reliable way is to make a formal request: our team then submits your file to RAMQ, and you receive a personalized response.

It’s free, with no obligation, and you can then decide whether you want to go ahead.

In some cases, a referral allows access to a higher level of financial assistance.

This is an official document issued by a healthcare professional affiliated with a CLSC or CI(U)SSS, certifying that you require homecare support for your particular situation.

Only referrals from professionals affiliated with a Centre local de services communautaires (CLSC), Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) or Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux (CI(U)SSS) are accepted.

This may include a :

  • Speaker
  • Social work technician
  • Social worker
  • Occupational therapist
  • Nurse
  • Clinical nurse
  • Physiotherapist
  • Affiliated physician

If you think you might be able to get a referral, don’t hesitate to talk to your doctor or a healthcare professional in the network.

No, Répit-Ressource takes care of everything for you. Once your request has been submitted, our team prepares the file and takes all the necessary steps with the RAMQ.

Only your signature is required to authorize us to make this request on your behalf.

No. The amount of your subsidy is automatically applied to your services. You pay only the portion not covered by the DSFS.

No, absolutely not. Applying allows you to find out your eligibility and the exact amount of assistance available, but you remain free to accept or reject the offer of service afterwards.

There is no charge and no obligation to go further.

L'APPUI - Valuable assistance for caregivers of seniors

Are you looking after a loved one who is losing his or her independence? Thanks to L’APPUI, it’s possible to obtain a subsidy for certain hours of in-home respite care (stimulation activities, caring presence, personal assistance) in addition to or in addition to CLSC services. The amount of the subsidy depends on your situation.

Accessible throughout Quebec, this assistance is allocated according to your specific needs, without you having to deal with the paperwork – we’ll take care of it for you!

Tax credits and other support

If you’re age 70 or over, you may be eligible for the CIMDA tax credit (crédit d’impôt pour le maintien à domicile des aînés), which covers up to 39% of expenses related to certain home support services (housekeeping, meals, personal care, etc.). This assistance is paid by Revenu Québec, once your tax return has been filed.

Other financial assistance and tax credits may apply depending on your situation: caregivers, medical expenses, tax exemptions…
